What a Werzalit windowsill is made of
Werzalit windowsills are made of pressed wood chips (usually softwood and beech) and natural polymer resins. The mass is pressed under high temperature and pressure, and the multilayer surface is pressed together with the core. The top layer is not glued on, it fuses with the core, so the result is one solid board rather than a glued product.
What this means in practice:
- a dense, uniform structure makes it resistant to moisture, so it suits a kitchen;
- brief heating up to 180 °C leaves no marks, so hot cookware and a radiator are not a problem;
- the surface withstands detergents and needs no special care, a damp cloth is enough;
- a tough protective layer resists scratches and chips from flower pots and small objects;
- environmentally clean materials: the windowsill is safe in a children’s room.
How to choose a windowsill: four steps
- Width. Measure the depth of the window opening from the window to the edge of the wall and add an overhang of 30–50 mm. Widths from 100 to 600 mm are available, see the price table below.
- Length. The manufacturer’s standard lengths are 3000, 4250 and 6000 mm. We cut the windowsill to your exact size, and there is a connector for joining two pieces.
- Series and decor. Pick a series and colour in the catalogue. White and light decors suit any interior, wood-effect decors go well with wooden doors and furniture.
- Ends and cut-outs. Close the ends with end caps and, if needed, order a cut-out for the reveal, a radiator or a grille.

Which windowsill width should I choose?
Measure the depth of the opening and add a 30–50 mm overhang, so the sill does not sink into the wall and protects the reveal from water. 300–400 mm is enough for a standard wall, 500–600 mm is used for wide openings.
Can I order a non-standard length?
Yes. The manufacturer’s standard lengths are 3000, 4250 and 6000 mm, but we cut the windowsill to your size. Enter the length and quantity in the order form.
How do I close the ends of the windowsill?
There are end caps in the colour of the sill for the ends, and a connector for the joint of two pieces. Their prices are in the price table.
Will the sill withstand a radiator and hot cookware?
Yes. The sill withstands brief heating up to 180 °C with no consequences, so heat from a radiator or a hot mug will not harm it.
How do I care for the windowsill?
No special care is needed: wipe the surface with a damp cloth, household detergents do it no harm.
