1. Width: from the opening, not by eye
Measure the depth of the opening, the distance from the window frame to the edge of the wall, and add an overhang of 30–50 mm. A sill with enough overhang protects the wall under it from water and does not sink into the opening. 300–400 mm usually suits a standard wall, 500–600 mm a wide opening. If the space above a radiator must stay free for heat convection, do not take a wider sill than the design allows.
2. Length: by the opening, with an allowance for the reveals
If the sill goes into the side reveals, add 20–30 mm on each side; if it sits between the reveals, take the exact length of the opening. The manufacturer’s standard lengths are 3000, 4250 and 6000 mm, but we cut the sill to your size, and for long openings two pieces are joined with a special connector.
3. Series: which to choose
- Exclusive — a pronounced nose, 17 mm thick: for spacious rooms, offices and wide openings.
- Compact — a lighter profile for standard openings.
- Wermodin Gentas — the Turkish line: a premium look at a more affordable price.
4. Decor: how to get the colour right
Match the window frame and the doors: white and light decors suit a white frame, wood-effect decors suit wood of a similar shade. A dark sill is expressive, but dust is more visible on it in the sun. The colour on a screen may differ slightly from the real one, so if in doubt call us and we will help you compare samples.
5. Calculating the cost: an example
A window 1.5 m long, a sill 300 mm wide. According to the current price list a linear metre costs 2 607 UAH, so the sill will cost about 3 911 UAH. Add end caps and, if needed, cut-outs and installation. The calculator gives the exact figure for your sizes.
What next
Once the sizes and series are chosen, pick the decor and place the order. How to install the sill is in the installation guide, and the article on the differences compares Werzalit with plastic sills.
